Resources for Recovering Resilience: Recovering Resilience, Deepening Dharma in 2015

I’m presenting this calendar of teachings and trainings in 2015 mostly to encourage you to consider investing some time and wise effort in more intensive explorations of the tools and techniques offered under the umbrella of Bouncing Back.  We recover our capacities to cope with the disappointments and difficulties, even the disasters of our lives, when we practice again and again the skillful tools that allow us to do so.  May the opportunity to do so fit in with the flow of your life this year.

Clinical Trainings

Mental health care professionals learn tools to help clients rewire coping strategies that are defensive, dysfunctional, and blocking of growth, even when they are seemingly “stuck” and intractable. Clinicians will also learn to apply these tools to their own brain care as self-care to avoid compassion fatigue and burnout. Self-directed neuroplasticity can reverse the impact of stress and trauma, regulate anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, guilt and shame, deepen self-compassion and empathy to connect to inner resources, strengthen the relationships that develop resilience, and shift perspectives to discern options and make wise choices.

Deepening Dharma through Mindfulness and Self-Compassion

Mindfulness and compassion are two of the most powerful agents of brain change known to science. A wise use of Buddhist contemplative practices and tools from modern relational psychology can help practitioners let go of unwholesome coping strategies and cultivate wholesome ones, leading to more clarity, response flexibility and resilience and less greed, hatred, delusion and suffering.
